  2. The Burning Lake
Pema Lingpa, the Great treasure discoverer is said to have discovered yet another appalling treasure from Bumthang.
It is said that the local Chokor (ruler) assembled a large group of people for the extraction, and said to Pema Lingpa that if the terton were successful in bringing forth the treasure, he would support him; however, if he failed to perform convincingly, he would punish him for disrupting his district.
Pema Lingpa said he had a vision of the sacred treasures that Guru Rinpoche had hidden within the lake centuries earlier. However, the people of Tang and the local ruler were cynical of his claims.
In order to prove his claims, Pema Lingpa held a butter lamp and made a proclamation, “If I am genuine, let me bring back the treasure with this lamp still burning. If I am a fraud, let me die in the waters below.”
With this he jumped into the lake. After remaining under water for a long time, he is said to have re-emerged holding a chest and a scroll of paper with the butter lamp still burning bright. Hereafter, the lake will be known as Mebartsho (the burning lake).
Pema Lingpa was born in Chel Baridrang, in the Tang valley in Bumthang. He was born into the Nyo lineage, said to have emerged from Tibet from divine ancestry before arriving in Bhutan. While still young, he was sent to his maternal grandfather, a blacksmith. At the age of nine, he began to apprentice as a blacksmith. It is said that he would often pretend to be seated on the throne, giving invitations and teachings, and performing ritual dance. As he grew up, he crafted many materials from iron and are displayed at his house at this moment as well. It is said that he got his prophetic dreams when he was 25 years old.
Rumors say that he has had similar dreams and he’d be doing such miracles soon.

  3. A DIVINE BEING FINDS HIDDEN TREASURES OF GURU RINPOCHE IN TANG.
Yesterday afternoon at 4o’clock at the Tang valley of Bumthang the famous treasure discoverer more commonly known as Tertoen Pema lingpa was said to have discovered another priceless artifact of Guru Rinpopche.Terton Pema Lingpa, though at first was scorned for his belief, has started to gain more fame as he uncover artifacts after artifacts. His discovery yesterday has blown the minds of people and he is becoming somewhat and divine entity to the people.
His discovery yesterday was in an ordinary lake. That afternoon Pema Lingpa had called all the villagers to the lake. There they found him holding a burning lamp in his hand. He told all the nonbelievers that he would jump in the river with his lamp, find the artifact and come out of the lake with the lamp still burning. The people watched as Pema Lingpa said a prayer to the gods and jumped inside the lake.
The people of the valley of Tang waited for a longtime. After a while they had begun to lose hope. Suddenly from the center of the lake there was a ripple in the water. Soon they saw the Terton walking calmly with the statue of the Buddha and sacred scrolls in one hand and on the other hand was a lamp still burning.
The villagers have given a name to the “divine lake” from which people began to have faith. The lake from which Terton Pema Lingpa came out with a lamp still burning. This lake is now known as the “Mebartsho- the burning lake”
The people of the valley of Tang have begun to see him as a divine and enlightened being. Terton Pema Lingpa is said to be a person with great virtue. “Even at a young age he was different from the other children,” said his grandfather who had raised him, “he would make stupas, give initiations and he had an ability to memorise the holy texts almost instantly.” This makes us question, is this persona divine being sent from the heavens?

  4. The Miraculous Discovery of Ter from Mebar Tsho
Yesterday night at around 10 pm, the saint Pema lingpa, discovered many ter in the treacherous lake of Bumthang. It was said that he directly dived into the lake with a lit butter lamp on his hand which no human could handle with the locals watching. Pema Lingpa before jumping uttered the words that “If I am genuine, let me bring back the treasure with this lamp still burning. If I am a fraud, let me die in the waters below.” He proved that he was a genuine Tertoen, when to the amazement and awe struck locals, Pema Lingpa not only came out of the lake but he was still holding the burning butter lamp, statue and a treasure chest. The locals reverence to the Pema Lingpa grew more including the spiritual faith and henceforth he was immediately called as Tertoen Pema Lingpa. The lake was also named as Mebar Tsho meaning burning lake.
It was no wonder that as a child he displayed special quality while living with his maternal grandfather, Yonten Jangchub, a blacksmith. As a child, he would pretend to be seated on throne and give initiations and teachings, and performing ritual dance ('cham). Though inclined towards religion, he was supposed to have spend much of his adulthood working as blacksmith and crafted many works in various materials, making millstones and objects from iron. He loved crafting iron pans including chainmail, swords and knives.
He was born in Chel Baridrang, in the Tang valley in the district of Bumtang. His father was Dondrub Zangpo of Sumtrang and his mother was Pema Dronma. He was born on the fifteenth day of the second month of the male iron-horse year of the eighth cycle, corresponding to 1450.
Ter or hidden treasures were generally believed to be hidden by Padmasambhava and it was prophesized that the ancient ters will be discovered by his incarnations of the twenty five main disciples of Padmasambhava and Tertoen Pema Lingpa is being recognized as one of the five major Tertoen.
